Meet Sophie

Sophie – Age 13

Sophie has been shooting since she was 7 years old and currently shoots a 20-gauge Stoeger. With six years of experience, she’s developed a real passion for the sport—especially the challenge of staying accurate and improving her skills with every round.

Her favorite part of being on the Clay Team is pushing herself to get better, and she encourages others to give it a try—even if they’ve never picked up a shotgun before. As Sophie puts it: “Join the team so you can get the experience of shooting and learn about gun safety.”

She’s a great example of how dedication and enthusiasm can go a long way in the sport.

Jeremy & Renee Purvis – CRCT Parents

Jeremy and Renee Purvis are proud supporters of the CRCT program and parents to shooter Sophie. One of their favorite aspects of the Clay Team is watching the kids come together—learning new skills and growing not just as individual athletes, but as a team.

When asked if they would recommend the team to other families, their answer is a resounding yes. They believe clay target shooting is a challenging sport that builds mental strength, sharpens accuracy, and highlights the value of teamwork.

Their advice to new families? Experience isn’t necessary. Just show up with a willingness to learn, and the rest will come with time and practice.
