Meet Jonathan "J"

Jonathan, also known as “J,” has been shooting for over five years and currently uses a Beretta Silver Pigeon Over & Under 12-gauge. At just 11 years old, he’s already built a strong foundation in the sport and thrives on the challenge of hitting moving targets.

J’s favorite part of being on the Clay Team is pushing himself to improve with every shot. His advice for new shooters? “The coaches will help you learn what you don’t know—and you’ll have fun, too!” His positive attitude and drive make him a great teammate and a rising talent in the sport.

Mark & Betsy - CRCT Parents & Coaches

Mark and Betsy Thompson are both coaches with CRCT and proud parents to team shooter Jonathan. One of the most rewarding parts of being involved with the Clay Team, they say, is watching their son grow each week—especially those moments when a skill he’s been working on finally clicks.

Their message to parents considering the team? “If your child is even a little interested in shooting, reach out! We’d love to set up a time for them to see what the team is all about.”

The Thompsons emphasize that experience isn't required—just curiosity and a willingness to learn. Their best advice to new families: Don’t be afraid to check it out. We have a ton of fun, and we take safety seriously. Their two biggest rules?
1. Be Safe. 2. Have Fun.
“If you’re not doing the first one, you can’t do the second.”

They’re committed to making the sport approachable and transparent for families, and are always happy to share what’s happening both on and off the range.
